Beautiful French Louis XV style commode, dating to the 19th century, featuring richly figured parquetry veneers, extensive gilt-bronze mounts, and a shaped marble top. The commode is constructed in the characteristic bombé form, with a gently serpentine façade and two broad drawers arranged beneath a substantial molded marble top. The drawer fronts are veneered in radiating and geometric patterns that emphasize the curving architecture of the case, while darker crossbanding creates visual definition around the perimeter. Finely cast gilt-bronze mounts enrich the composition throughout. Elaborate rocaille handles and escutcheons ornament the drawer fronts, while large scrolling foliate mounts descend along the front corners and continue toward the cabriole legs. Additional bronze decoration accents the apron and feet, giving the commode the sumptuous sculptural character associated with French Louis XV Revival furniture.
