Netherlands Authentic Oregon pine beams recovered from Amsterdam's historic canal foundations. For centuries, the city's iconic canal houses and infrastructure were supported by millions of timber piles driven deep into the ground until they reached stable sand layers. Oregon Pine was imported to the Netherlands in the 1400 and was commonly used for these infrastructures and house foundations. It was largely phased out in the 1920s, making salvaged examples exceptionally historic—many dating back well over 100 to 200 years. Submerged beneath the water table for generations, the oak remained protected from oxygen and decay, preserving it in remarkable condition. Today, these beams are carefully recovered during foundation replacements and canal restoration projects, revealing timber of extraordinary density, weight, and character that reflects centuries of Amsterdam's architectural history.
