Woodblock print from the series " New Forms of 36 Ghosts." Titled: Nasu Nohara Sessyou no Zu (Death Stone of Nasu Moor) circa 1891. By Yoshitoshi (1839-1892). Pictured in the print standing in front of the rock is Tamamo no Mae, Emperor Toba's favorite concubine. She has very long hair and wears many layers of robes in the Heian Style. Painted on her forehead are false moth eyebrows. Two geese fly above signifying death is present, a signature Yoshitoshi design. She is believed to have poisoned Emperor Toba with her magic.
