A vibrant and playful handmade millefiori glass plate by Ursa Major (France), dating to the 1970's, embellished with twenty-one individually crafted Murano glass “candies.” This joyful composition exemplifies the studio’s celebrated approach to whimsical, sculptural glass design. The plate itself is executed in richly colored millefiori glass, with multicolored canes embedded beneath the surface to create depth, movement, and a lively visual rhythm. Resting atop the plate are 21 hand-formed Murano glass confections, each unique in form, color, and pattern, featuring classic Venetian techniques such as cane work, striping, and polka-dot decoration. The contrast between the French-made millefiori base and the Italian Murano candy elements creates a dynamic dialogue between French studio glass and Venetian glassmaking traditions. The underside of the plate is clearly stamped “Handmade – Ursa Major – France,” confirming its origin and artisanal production.
