About

An exceptional and richly mounted Louis XV style bureau plat, crafted in kingwood with exquisite gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts and hand-painted plaques. The serpentine rectangular top features luxurious kingwood veneers arranged in a radiating parquetry pattern, bordered by a finely cast gilt-bronze edge. The desk is fitted with three drawers to the front, each framed with elaborate rococo gilt-bronze mounts and adorned with hand-painted plaques depicting classical scenes. The reverse side is similarly decorated, allowing the desk to float elegantly in a room. Cabriole legs terminate in gilt-bronze sabots and are embellished with large sculptural mounts featuring scrolls, foliage, and masks in the Louis XV manner.
