A beautifully executed Italian oval mirror, crafted in Florence and finished in a rich combination of burnished silver leaf and water-gilded gold. The hand-carved wooden frame is adorned with a continuous laurel and ribbon motif—alternating gilded foliate elements bound by crossed bands—creating a sculptural, rhythmic border that feels both neoclassical and distinctly Florentine in spirit. The surface retains a softly aged patina, with intentional distressing and tonal variation that reveal warm undertones beneath the silvered ground. The gilded elements glow against the cooler silver field, giving the frame depth and movement. Subtle craquelure and minor age separations to the gesso (as shown) are consistent with handcrafted construction and add to its character.
