This ethnic Berber instrument is a sugar hammer. Sugar in Morocco was sold in block cones, and you needed a hammer to get it in small pieces. A very nice decorative piece of history from a private collection found in Marrakech, Morocco. Dated from early to mid 19th century. Marteau a Sucre "Deggaga" Maroc, 19e siècle.
