An antique late-19th-century Indo-Persian tinned copper vase of spherical form, hand chased and engraved with recessed floral and geometric decoration, arabesques and a small deer motif. The dark, richly aged patina contrasts beautifully with traces of the silvery tinned surface. The vessel has a circular foot, rounded bulbous body, long slender neck and flared lip. Heavy-gauge metal and hand-worked ornament give the compact piece substantial presence. It displays beautifully as an Islamic metalwork collectible, flower vase, candle holder or sculptural accent on a shelf, mantel or console. Probably Northern India, circa 1890.
