Asian Chinese black lacquer and gilt hand painted box, made for the export market. The black lacquer box is decorated with beautiful gilt painting. The lid of the box painted in the shanshui style, with an idyllic river and mountain, Chinoiserie style landscape with architectural Asian decor, landscape figures of women in traditional kimonos, young boys playing near a river. The landscape studded with trees and vegetation, and some small pagodas. Shanshui style landscapes. The interior of the box painted in red lacquer with a gilt floral design in the back of the lid.
