Monumental in scale and exceptionally glamorous, this fabulous pair of oversized three-light wall sconces combines polished tubular chrome with contrasting brass accents. Standing five feet tall before the shades are added, these architectural wall-mounted lamps make a dramatic statement while maintaining the clean symmetry and refined proportions associated with 1970s Modernist and Hollywood Regency design. Each sconce is constructed with a long cluster of parallel polished chrome tubes. Near the upper portion of the column, slender brass bands cross the chrome in a distinctive X-shaped design, creating a striking two-tone decorative detail. Brass-finished end caps complete the base, while the chrome tubes divide and sweep outward above to form three graceful lighting arms. Each fixture holds three lights beneath its shade, providing six lights across the pair. The sculptural combination of chrome and brass reflects the renewed interest in Art Deco geometry and luxurious mixed-metal interiors during the 1970s. The design recalls the sophisticated decorative lighting associated with Maison Jansen; however, no maker’s label or documentation connecting the sconces directly to Maison Jansen has been located. They are therefore accurately offered as American, circa 1970s, maker unknown, in the style of Maison Jansen. Shown with large pleated ivory fabric shades, the sconces can be used as presented or updated with streamlined contemporary shades for a cleaner, more modern appearance. Their extraordinary height and strong vertical lines make them ideal for flanking a fireplace, oversized mirror, console, doorway or bed in a room with generous proportions. They would be particularly effective in a Hollywood Regency interior, Art Deco Revival residence, contemporary penthouse, Palm Beach home, Mediterranean villa or luxury boutique hotel. The wall-mounted metal body of each fixture measures 60 inches high by 19 inches wide by 10 inches deep. Each current shade measures 25 inches wide by 10 inches high by 13 inches deep. Overall installed height with the present shade is approximately 70 to 72 inches, depending upon placement and installation. The pair includes two wall sconces, two shades and six total light sockets. Presented in good vintage
