Beautiful 19th century large hand-crafted decorative round polished brass box with lid delicately and intricately hand-hammered with repousse floral and fishes designs. Engraved with intricate designs on the lid which has a carved floral design handle and a latch in front for opening or closing the box and for safekeeping. Crafted in brass, these Indian bread boxes or Roti ka dabba as popularly known, were used for centuries to keep the freshly baked home made round fluffy Chapatis or rotis. Exquisite conversation museum quality piece with a very nice antique patina. Measures: 13" diameter x 8" height.
