of fully realized sculpted and molded stylized sitting bird form, it’s wings gently sculpted in relief, the chest with rectangular flaring ridge, rising to tapering neck with flaring studded rim enclosing hollow interior, surmounted by conforming sculpted and molded lid in the form of the birds head, with similar rectangular ridge crown, sculpted eyes and strong beak; the whole raised on fan tail and talons, displaying traces of polychrome enrichment and archeological patination 7” wide x 9 1/2” deep x 11” high Han Dynasty (206 BCE - 220CE) Modeled after the Zhou Dynasty bronze, dating to the eleventh-tenth century BCE Download tearsheet
