One of the most collectible names in French mid-century ceramics, Roger Capron produced work that sits at the intersection of craft and fine art, and this coffee table is a prime example of why. The top is composed of hand glazed ceramic tiles in Capron's signature warm terracotta palette, each one individually impressed with a different botanical motif, including leaves, ferns, and wildflowers, pressed directly into the clay before firing. No two tiles are identical. The result is a surface that reads almost like a pressed herbarium, earthy and poetic in equal measure. The table sits on a simple squared steel frame that lets the tilework do all the talking. Signed by Capron, and made in Vallauris, the historic ceramics town in the south of France where he spent his career.
